《The Part below is in 1st Person PoV, from Evan’s PoV》

As the sun began to set and the sky grew ominously dark, I found myself stopping by a tavern on the outskirts of town. I was not particularly fond of drinking, but given the circumstances, I felt a desperate need for some alcohol.

Thud!

Pushing open the door and stepping inside, I was met with a wink from a woman.

She was the barmaid, a familiar face in this tavern.

“Well, well, if it isn’t our regular customer? You seem to be here quite often,” she remarked with a playful tone.

“Well, since you’re selling so much, it’s a good thing, isn’t it?”

“Oh, I can’t argue with that,” she chuckled.

The interior was bustling with activity, packed with men bearing a rugged appearance and armed with dangerous weapons. Their eyes, sharp and piercing, swept over me for a fleeting moment.

But their intense scrutiny was short-lived. As they recognized my identity, their expressions softened into warm smiles.

“Oh? If it isn’t Evan. It’s been a while. I was wondering what you’ve been up to.”

“Ah, just been busy with this and that, you know.”

“Hehehe. Gaddel has been missing you in particular. I think he misses you more than his wife these days.”

Evan, known for his kind heart, always went out of his way to help others. As a result, everyone here had received some form of favor, big or small, from Evan.

Since we had an amicable relationship from the start, it wasn’t hard for me to get close to them.

And during my time as Hero Mayer, I had spent a considerable amount of time with mercenaries.

Thanks to that past experience, I was able to befriend them quickly.

‘Though I wouldn’t call it anything special.’

Befriending mercenaries was easier than approaching a stray cat.

Just buy them a few drinks and exchange a few words, and that was it. If you could keep the conversation flowing smoothly, you could even become sworn brothers.

And there was nothing wrong with becoming close with them.

In this line of work, the mercenaries valued camaraderie, so if I ever needed help, they’d lend a hand without hesitation.

“Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.”

“Of course! How could one be unhappy with alcohol!”

“Evan, why have you come here? Clearly for the drinking, haha!”

Gilbert raised his wooden mug, and Gaddel, who was sitting next to him, also raised his mug and gave me a wink. In response, I let out a short chuckle.

‘Ahh, this is soothing.’

I was exhausted after dealing with those crazy women all day, but drinking with these guys made me feel all relaxed. Of course, not everything was perfect. For instance, there was the sound of laughter coming from the back table.

That laughter belonged to Amir’s gang – the despicable scoundrels who had NTR’d Evan’s “heroines.”

“Ahem. Those guys are so noisy every time. I wonder what’s so funny to them, tsk tsk.”

“Just ignore them, Gaddel. Why bother avoiding dirt? It’s just filthy.”

“That Amir fellow has been irking me lately.”

Amir had a nasty habit of taking others’ possessions and getting excited by the misery of those around him — a true psychopath.

They must have been mocking me for that very reason.

“Oh, isn’t that Master Evan~?”

As our eyes met, Amir waved at me with a bright smile.

Anyone would think we were close friends. I ignored him with a half-hearted glance and turned my head away.

‘No need to bother with every single one of them.’

NTR Evan’s heroines? Do as you please.

I was not Evan, and it had nothing to do with me. Getting angry and throwing a fit would just be strange.

“Hmm?”

That’s when a glass of ale was served in front of me.

“But I didn’t order this?”

However, the barmaid tilted her head, replying, “The gentlemen over there sent it. It’s free, so you can just enjoy it.”

“……..”

The ‘gentlemen’ she was referring to were of course Amir’s gang and I discreetly glanced their way.

Amir was, as usual, giving me his unpleasant smile.

‘…Amir.’

Haha, you’re not a bad guy after all, are you?

My father used to say that you shouldn’t refuse free drinks and applying my father’s wisdom, I downed the ale without the slightest hesitation.

Glug! Glug! Glug!

The cool sensation as it went down my throat brought me a sense of joy…

“Kheu!”

…and an involuntary exclamation escaped my lips.

I quickly emptied the glass, one after another.

Tch, a shame. Won’t they buy me more?

Judging by Amir’s mood, it didn’t seem likely. His smile had stiffened, suggesting he wasn’t too pleased with my actions.

How unfair. Didn’t they buy it for me to drink?

“That’s strange. Why are those guys being so nice to you?”

“What does it matter? It’s free alcohol.”

“Hehehe, that’s true. Let’s have a toast then.”

Clinking my glass with Gaddel, I resumed drinking.

Time flew as we drank, unaware of the hours passing until the tavern door suddenly opened.

Assuming it was just another customer, I kept my focus on my drink.

“Evan.”

But for some reason, the familiar voice calling my name caught my attention.

The newcomers were none other than my party members.

‘The atmosphere seems a bit odd.’

They all had a heavy, serious air about them; it was as if they all had something to say.

Was it an urgent matter? Well, that’s why they came here, I suppose.

“…You all seem to have something on your mind. We’ll give you some space to talk it through.”

“Hehehe, Evan. We’ll get out of your way so you can chat with your loved ones.”

Gaddel left with a gloomy expression, and Gilbert next to him playfully patted my shoulder as he chuckled.

“………”

Once they were gone, I was left alone.

This is becoming a headache. I couldn’t help but rub my forehead in annoyance.

《The Part below has switched to 3rd Person PoV for better storytelling since there are many characters involved》

Judy, who had been standing silently, finally decided to broach the subject, “You know you’ve been acting strange lately, right?”

“Seriously, this again?”

“What? Just now, you clicked your tongue like it’s a bother, and you don’t even seem interested in talking.”

Well, that’s because you guys are always bothering me, constantly asking me to do this and that. Did you expect me to just keep chuckling along happily?

Evan simply couldn’t understand the women’s intentions, and the women likewise couldn’t comprehend Evan.

Judy expressed those feelings openly.

“We’ve been putting up with it, even though we don’t know what’s bothering you. We know you’re not the type to throw tantrums or get angry without reason.”

As soon as Judy spoke, Chloe next to her nodded repeatedly. Cecilia and Irinette, standing behind them, were awkwardly looking elsewhere.

“But this has been going on for more than a week now, and it’s just too much. We’re already dealing with our own troubles, so why is it always just you acting this way?”

“Yeah! Why do we have to keep walking on eggshells around you-!”

“Oh? What’s going on here?”

It was then that a man’s interjection cut off Chloe’s words.

The party members seemed to instantly recognize the voice and flinched.

“Hmm~ What’s with all of you? Look like you’ve seen a ghost or something.”

Amir playfully remarked and Gael eyed Evan with a sinister smile.

“Hey, Evan. You’re looking a lot better these days, huh?”

Gael was trying to provoke Evan as usual.

But today, Evan was unusually at ease, “Oh? Did something good happen to make me look that way?”

“Hehehe, I’m curious to know what this good thing is. Care to share?”

“Well, as you know, I just had some free drinks. What could be better than that?”

“Huh?”

The smile vanished from Gael’s face. He mulled over Evan’s words for a moment before comprehending their meaning.

“Ah, Hahaha. Right. Nothing beats free drinks.”

“You don’t have to thank us so much. We ate a lot thanks to Master Evan too.”

Unlike Gael’s awkward laughter, Amir handled the situation smoothly.

But the person in question didn’t seem to care at all. Only the women next to him reacted as if they had been pricked by a needle.

‘Huh? Again today?’

Amir observed Evan intently.

At first, it seemed like he was just putting on an act, but Amir could sense it wasn’t just an act.

“That’s strange.”

The sense of strangeness was mingled with displeasure. Amir’s upturned lips curved even higher as he spoke, “Lately, Master Evan has been… a bit strange, for some reason.”

“Is that an insult or a compliment?”

“Haha, well, that’s up to you to interpret. Would you like me to apologize if I offended you?”

“I wouldn’t go so far as to apologize. I was taking it as a compliment anyway.”

The party members had been fidgeting, unsure of what to do. Finally, Judy carefully spoke up.

“Uh, Amir? We have something we’d like to discuss amongst ourselves, so could you give us some space?”

“…I’d also like to join the discussion. Is that okay?”

“W-Well, we’re fine with it, but Evan is a bit…”

“No, he’s not? Mr. Evan seems perfectly fine to me. So, I’ll join you too.”

Judy glanced at Evan covertly.

But Evan’s gaze remained fixed solely on his glass.

‘Ah, fuck. I wish you’d all just fuck off.’

That was Evan’s sentiment. He just wanted to drink and forget about everything.

“Oh, come on. Now that I think about it, I have something to show you guys. Gael, would you mind taking it out?”

“Huh? Oh, okay.”

At Amir’s request, Gael rummaged through his pocket.

And what he pulled out was a plain-looking rock.

It looked like an ordinary rock. Of course, the mana emanating from it indicated that it was anything but ordinary.

“Master Evan, do you know what this is?”

The current Evan was a different person now and Amir, having realized that the usual taunts didn’t work on this new Evan, had prepared a trump card.

“Hmm~ I wonder if the others know what this is.”

Amir extended his attack to the others, Evan’s party members.

As he had hoped, Evan’s party members began to take an interest in the rock.

“What is this rock exactly?”

“Wow, I can feel the mana. This isn’t an ordinary rock, is it?”

“…Sigh. How did things end up like this?”

Those were the remarks of Irinette, Cecilia, and Judy respectively.

In any case, they had to play along with Amir’s tune. There was no point in angering him, and he wasn’t the type of guy who would leave if they ignored him.

“This is a kind of test, you see. I’m curious to see how Evan’s party members will fare.”

At Amir’s words, the party members showed visible discomfort.

Gael, seeing the uneasy expressions on the women, twisted his lips.

“Don’t worry. It’s not an artifact that’s harmful to the human body. Would you like to take turns touching it?”

The party members hesitated for a moment before reaching out one by one, and then changes began to occur.

When Irinette touched the rock, its color turned ashen gray.

Cecilia’s was red, and Chloe’s was orange.

And finally, when Judy touched it, the rock turned completely black.

“Hmm. The colors changed. What does that mean?”

“Ah! I see. That’s what it is? A mana concentration gauge. It’s obvious when you look at it.”

“…Black seems ominous, though.”

They each expressed their doubts, matching the changes they observed.

But there was no point in hiding it — and Amir immediately cleared up their doubts.

“This is an artifact that judges one’s purity. The color gets darker depending on the number of relationships you’ve had.”

“……………….”

“Ahaha. Interesting, isn’t it? Right, Master Evan? But I wonder, just who on earth have these women had relationships with to get such colors?”

They had never been intimate with Evan.

Evan knew this too, so the women were momentarily flustered.

Then, they tried to deny it with various excuses, but Amir was one step ahead.

“Could it be that Master Evan is the culprit? Come on, put your hand on it.”

“……………….”

Amir gave Evan a sly smile.

Gael was also gleefully observing the scene.

“Th, that’s not it, Evan!”

“Amir must be mistaken!”

“Yeah, right! What’s the point of a purity-testing rock!”

“Hmm.”

Evan remained silent for a moment, contemplative.

Amir was about to say something else when Evan, still maintaining his nonchalant demeanor, reached out and grabbed the rock.

And as if reacting to his touch, the color of the rock changed.

“…Huh?”

It turned pitch black.

A shade much blacker than Judy’s color just a moment ago — the implications of this were clear.

“What the hell! What kind of color is that?!”

“Wh, what’s going on…?”

This was definitely not supposed to happen.

Amir was speechless at the situation which was far from what he had expected.

And it wasn’t just Amir who couldn’t believe this situation.

The party members looked at Evan with their eyes wide open.

Under their burdensome gaze, Evan said, as if to explain, “I’ve been frequenting brothels for the past month.”

As Hero Mayer, he had been required to maintain his physical purity, so he had abstained from any intimate relations for a full 15 years.

So, on the first day of his possession, the first place Evan visited was the red-light district. There, he gave extra money to the women working and had intimate relations with them.

“B-Brothel…? E-Evan, why those filthy women…”

Judy’s question only made Evan more baffled.

Filthy? Not at all.

He thought the brothel women were no different from his party members, and perhaps, if anything, they were better — at least, they got paid for their work.

Evan, conditioned by the capitalist society of South Korea, thought this way.

“Heh, heh-heh! What a strange day this has been!”

While the women were flustered, only Amir maintained his composure.

He put on an outwardly relaxed expression, though his inner turmoil was palpable.

Amir’s usually soft features had hardened with a cold edge – a testament to his immense displeasure.

“That won’t do, Master Evan. With such beautiful women right here, why go slumming with prostitutes?”

“You look down on the prostitutes? Looks-wise, they’re not that different.”

“Hmm. No matter what, I can’t understand. Could it be that you confessed to these women and got rejected? So, you sought comfort in the arms of a prostitute?”

“What are you talking about? I was the one who got confessed to. And I was the one who rejected it.”

“Huh? What do you mean? Could it be Miss Judy?”

Amir turned his head towards Judy.

Judy, caught off guard, slowly shook her head, flustered.

“I’m not sure who you’re talking about?”

“Ah, right. A week ago, I was having a great time with an amazing prostitute. Seems like she fell for my techniques and confessed to me.”

“Haha. A woman likes a man who cavorts with prostitutes? Whoever she is, she must be quite the odd one.”

At Amir’s words, Evan tilted his head quizzically.

His gaze was pure, and his tone equally so.

“Huh? You don’t know who she is? You know her best.”

“…Huh?”

“I’m not sure who you’re talking about.”

“Wasn’t her name Amy? Amy talked about you a lot, you know.”

For a moment, Amir’s mouth opened slightly.

Time seemed to stand still as he remained speechless, his mouth agape.

“You know Amy, right? The one I’m talking about?”

Evan took a step towards the dumbfounded Amir, closing the distance until their noses were nearly touching.

“Your mother was awesome.”

Evan gave a thumbs up.
